‘This is a student-led initiative’: What does it actually take to realise this in an impactful, safe, and collaborative manner? Meaningful and thoughtful initiatives often involve the collaboration between students, educators, operational staff, parents, and other stakeholders in our school community and beyond. Given this diversity, to what extent does the shared knowledge and understanding on effective collaboration protocols exist amongst all parties? This session will discuss the fundamentals  of such protocols, and engage the participants to explore how the mindsets, habits, and ethical considerations required to develop them can be taught and mentored in co-curricular activities in Service and Sustainability. Participants will be sharing their own experiences and questions, and a desired outcome is to create the vision and possible prototypes of S&S protocols that can successfully engage and empower students, educators, and others to implement their initiatives. Presenters will share their experience with the conception and organization of the 1st S&S Youth Summit at ISKL this past September. We will present an overview of the process.

We will look at how Flint AI can be implemented in your classroom.  Everyone will leave with at least 1 activity they can use this year.  We will review some basic features and tips, followed by creating activities or tutoring materials before the end of the session.  Flint AI is great for differentiation on all levels.  It's great for reinforcement, reteaching, exit tickets, and knows what areas your students do well in and what can be improved, and allows for targeted instruction.

I would like to present a hands-on Canva or Google Slide session to teach staff and faculty how to use basic tools when putting together a presentation or slidedeck. These tools could range from basic shapes, text boxes, and image inserts to alignment, video embedding, and/or keyboard shortcuts.

How do we ensure our students are asking questions, constructing explanations, and testing their ideas? What scientific phenomenon best drives student inquiry? We will explore these questions by engaging as students in the inquiry cycle and then consider how we might apply the structure of scientific inquiry to other disciplines.

Goal-setting can unlock powerful student self-direction and engagement. Reflect about the culture of your classroom(s), the value of goal setting, and embracing a growth mindset. Support your learners to make connections between and decisions about what they know and can do to new content and competencies. Explore practical options for adapting classroom learning culture to achieve goals in your context.
